The Pre-School room cares for those children approaching 3 years who are ready to progress and develop the necessary skills and knowledge before they take the next step, the first day of school. A staff ratio of 1:4 is maintained for those children under 3 years and on a ratio of 1:8 for those children over 3 years. This room is staffed with a number of Nursery Assistants in addition to a Room Supervisor who is fully qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
We plan all our activities using the Curriculum guidance for the foundation stage and follow Early Years guide lines. Our activities in the Pre-School room are based on the recommendations for the NI-Curriculum for pre-school education and cover six key core areas. These will include, Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Knowledge and understanding of the world, Communication Language and Literacy, Creative Development, Physical Development and Problem solving, Reasoning and Numeracy.
The toys and equipment within this room are there to assist and encourage investigative learning, decision making & independence. But we do still have a messy area with all the same activity stations that your child had so much fun with in their ‘Toddler Room’ days!
We also incorporate safe and secure outdoor play with bikes, scooters, pavement games, and a gardening area to help them learn about the environment.
At the end of each day you will receive a daily report to provide you with the information about what your child has been doing, sleep times and the meals for that day.
We do this to provide your child with the best start in life. Our pre-school room provides everything your child needs to prepare them for the big step into primary education.
